Year 7 Montague Thank You Belfast Zoo
On 19th of October 2016, a zoo expert called John visited Y7 Montague and brought some animals from the zoo. He introduced himself and told us facts about the animals and their habitat. Most animals came from rainforests and some of them came from a normal forest. He told us how hot it can be in a rainforest and also how cold. He told us about all the animals from the zoo such as a tiger, snakes, monkeys and apes.
We all completed a table which asked us to write the animals and their classification, forest layer, whether they were predator or prey, their food and other interesting facts. The first animal we saw was a Tarantula called Rosie, he said that he couldn’t take her out because Rosie was very delicate and if it falls, it dies. Rosie was fury, black and it has pink toes which would scare other predators. Then he showed us the Australian white tree frog called Frankie, which had sticky pads on his toes which meant he could climb walls.
Some of us were really excited to get to hold a stick insect and a python!! Some of us were a bit scared though…. It was a great morning and we learnt so much!
