Year 6 Mc Mahon Rock, Paper , Scissors: Using playground games to investigate probability
3rd Jun 2021
The game ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors’ is a big hit in Mrs. Mc Mahon’s class at break and lunch time so we decided to use it to help us learn about Probability.
Questions like- What are the chances of my friend and I both choosing ‘Rock?’ & What are the chances of me choosing ‘Scissors’ and my friend choosing paper? all came up.
We used lots of maths probability vocabulary like ‘certain’, ‘impossible’ and ‘likely’ and even worked out what fraction of possibility it would be.
Mrs. McMahon even played against some of the boys and girls…but we’ll not mention who won!
