We had good fun experimenting with sound. We experimented with simple phones made from plastic cups and string.
First we had to see if the sound waves would travel better if the string was taut or slack. We found out that the sound travelled better if the string was taut.
Next we had to see if the sound would travel when there was a knot in the string. We found out that the sound would travel through the knot but the volume was dimmer.
Thirdly we had to see if the sound would travel round a corner and it did travel well.
Finally we investigated to see if the sound was affected if the cups were made out of card rather than plastic. We found out that the sound travelled better if the cups were made out of card.
I really enjoyed experimenting. I got to work with Aoife. WE had to predict what would happen and I got all my predictions right!
