Year 5 First Communicants Make History
Today Fr. O'Donnell came into school to talk to Year 5 Fee and Year 5 Mc Allister in preparation for their First Holy Communion tomorrow. He told the girls and boys that they were making history by being the first children to make their communion in Year 5 in St. Brigid's Parish. Fr. O'Donnell told them what a special occasion it was and both Fr. O'Donnell and Mrs Mc Allister told the children about their communion days. Fr. O'Donnell told the girls and boys that he got a new suit for the occasion and that he remembers a communion cake with blue icing though he can't recall how it tasted. Mrs Mc Allister told how she cut a fringe in her hair , much to her mother's dismay, the night before her Holy Communion.
The girls and boys showed Fr. O'Donnell how well they can bless themselves and demonstrated how they will receive the host in their hands.
We, the staff, are so proud of all our Year 5 pupils and we wish the girls and boys a very happy First Communion Day. God bless you and your families on this special, special day. We hope it is a memorable day for all.
