Year 4 War Memorial Workshop
Year 4 enjoyed a very informative session with Jenny from the Northern Ireland War Memorial Museum. We were shown lots of photographs of World War II, particularly from Belfast. We learnt about the Belfast Blitz and how it changed the city and the people that lived then. Did you know that 96,000 bombs were dropped on Belfast by 180 German planes! We also saw inside the suitcase of an evacuee: a toy rabbit, clothes, a book about the countryside, a toothbrush and some soap. Some of us got to wear uniforms from WWII- have a look at our photographs to see if you can work out who would have worn the uniforms. We loved it so much that lots of us are planning to go down to the museum over half term!
