Year 2 Get A Visit From the Dentist
On Friday 16th November 2018 after lunch Daniel’s mummy visited our class to talk about her job as a dentist. This was part of our World Around Us Topic People Who Help Us. She brought George the dinosaur with her. We got a chance to brush his teeth with a giant toothbrush. Daniel’s mummy (Claire) explained to us that germs plus the sugar in the foods we eat produce an acid that will damage the surface of our teeth. That is why we need to brush our teeth for two minutes both in the morning and before we go to bed. She showed us how long two minutes were by using a giant timer. This will keep our mouths, gums and teeth healthy. We also need to eat a healthy diet and visit the dentist twice a year. Then Claire showed us the mask that she uses as well as the special light that helps harden our new fillings. The 15-minute visit was finished off with a story of a bear with a sore tooth and a question and answer session. A big thank u from us all to Daniel's mum.
