Year 4 Mc Ilroy Support The Morning Star
During our investigation on ‘Celebrations’ through WAU the question was raised, “How do those less fortunate than us get to join in with celebrations like Christmas?” So P.4McI decided to do something about this issue.
First each child in our class brought in some non-perishable food items. We then filled Christmas Sacks with all the delicious food (we were able to fill 6 sacks in total). After that John the Caretaker helped us with his trolley to bring the sacks over to the Christmas tree. Finally, Michael from The Morning Star House, a Charity which helps homeless men in Belfast, came to collect all the food. Michael reminded us that when Jesus was born he too was homeless and that Christmas is a time for giving. He thanked us for our kindness and as he drove away with our sacks in his car boot we thought we heard him say, “Ho! Ho! Ho ! Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight!”
