The Big Pedal Comes to St. Bride's !

29th Mar 2019

St. Bride's are taking part in "Sustrans Big Pedal 2019". It is the UK’s largest inter-school cycling, walking and scooting challenge. The challenge runs from 25th March to 5th April. Everyone in St. Bride's can be involved.

On each day of the challenge, schools compete to see who can record the greatest number of pupils, staff and parents cycling, scooting or walking to school.

St. Bride's have got off to a great start with many children walking, scooting and cycling!

Mr Fee's class designed some wonderful posters to encourage all the pupils to participate.

A big thank you to Mr Fee for organising The Big Pedal. We hope to see even more pupils and parents participating next week.

Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep cycling, scooting or walking!

Some advice…

  • FS/ KS1 children should be accompanied by an adult when cycling/scooting.
  • Only children in KS2 should cycle/ scoot unaccompanied and parents of these children should only allow them to cycle unaccompanied if they feel their children are competent cyclists.
  • Children should remember to cycle safe – Always wear a helmet, protective gear and bright clothing.
  • The night before each journey, please check that bike tyres are pumped up, the chain is oiled and both front and back brakes are working.
  • Please consider joining your child to cycle, scoot or walk – join the fun!
  • Leave plenty of time to get to school so your child isn’t rushed.
  • Bring a chain to secure bikes or scooters at school – It would be a very good idea to secure any chain keys to a large keyring and keep them in a safe place such as a zipped pocket in a school bag to ensure that they are not lost.
