Sustrans Initative

On Thursday the 9th of October, Miss Mc Givern’s class launched our whole  “Sustrans” initiative at assembly.

Sustrans is an initiative which encourage pupils to walk, cycle or scoot to school.

Miss Beverley Gaston from Sustrans talked to the pupils about the benefits of walking to school and how to do so safely.

As part of the initiative the Year 7s launched the “Walk to School Fortnight” which  is off to a great start. It runs from  Monday the 13th of October to Friday the 24th. St. Bride’s pupils will be walking, scooting or cycling safely to school. Each pupil has their own passbook and those who get 8 stamps will be entered into a draw.

The Year 7 assembly also  included a Year 7 “Be Bright” Fashion Show. The pupils encouraged their peers to be safe in autumn when travelling to school.

St. Bride’s are having a whole school Ditch the Dark day on Tuesday the 28th of October. Everyone is encouraged to don bright clothing for the day. It will be great fun.

The pupils in Miss Mc Givern’s class finished their assembly with a song called “ Better Make Sure”.

The opening line was “Listen everybody, this is what we mean, make sure you’re bright and make sure you’re seen”.

The assembly was a great success and everyone enjoyed it. Well done to Year 7 Mc Givern and all her pupils.
