P5 McAuley volcano art
This week, in art, we have looked at paintings by Jackson Pollock and Nick Rowland, one of which is of a volcano erupting. We were given a copy of the painting and asked to consider the artist's techniques and materials used. Once we had discussed the painting, we were given the chance to imitate it, using the materials we thought should be used. We had a base layer of oil pastels and used paints for the top layers. The children had a lot of (messy) fun using a range of painting techniques, such as splattering, flicking, dripping, blowing etc to capture the explosive nature of a volcano inspired by Nick Rowland artwork.
