The children this week were planting some potatoes and lettuce with Mrs Kinney. We need to keep and eye on them and watering them in the next few months so they will be ready to harvest by June. We took part in our DFI Road Safety Walk where the children put into practice their green cross code knowledge. The children were identifying and learning about the counties and provinces of Ireland for our WAU topic. We completed an online Trocaire activity in which the children learned what it would be like to live as a family in Guatemala and the challenges caused by climate change. They also took part in an empathy walk where the children were given character cards where they 'became' someone else. When we went outside I read out statements and the children had to move forwards/backwards depending on how 'they' were affected. The children could see that there are a lot of children in the world who don't have basic rights such as clean water or an education.
