Numeracy - take-away
In P1, we have been learning about subtraction. We have done lots of practical subtraction with different games and we even used ourselves to explore subtraction. In the last few weeks, we have been learning to read take-away sums and even record our own take-away sums.
This week during Structured Play, Numeracy Tasks, and the Nursery Playground, we all had a go at playing ‘Knock ‘em down’ with our skittles. First we put the skittles out and counted how many there were. Then, we had to have a go at knocking some skittles down with the ball. Finally, we counted how many we knocked down and how many were left. We even had a go at recording our take-away sums on our whiteboards. Miss Wynne was very impressed with how we can do it ourselves. We even used the symbol that means take-away ( - )!! We are loving our skittle game!!
