P1 Wynne Nanny Thompson from Mount Stewart
We had an exciting visitor in our class today. Nanny Thompson from Mount Stewart came to see us and she brought a suitcase of exciting things!!
Nanny Thompson told us all about the children she used to look after that lived in Mount Stewart, or the ‘Big House’ and she brought pictures of them that we could look at. She told us lots about the youngest in the family, a little girl called Mary. We got to look at some of Mary’s really old toys!!We saw her favourite doll which was made out of porcelain and her second favourite teddy which didn’t have any fur left. He also wasn’t very soft or cuddly. We talked about old toys and how we knew they were old.
Then we went back to our tables and Nanny Thompson let us play with all the old toys. We had so much fun!! They are very different to our toys now and a lot of them were made from wood. We nearly forgot to get ready for home time we were all having so much fun!!
Tell your adult what your favourite old toy to play with was and tell them a reason why.
