On Thursday 12th November 2015 our class, Year 7 McGivern, experienced a retreat in the De LaSalle Pastoral centre on the Glen Road, Belfast.
After being introduced to the team we played a game called Up and Down and although some of us got a little confused, we had fun together which made us feel comfortable with Caren, Margaret and Chris.
Following that we were split into groups then asked to write down a fact about Jesus. There were many interesting facts about Jesus that we were unaware of-the 5 loaves and 2 fishes event was amazing!
We had a healthy break and a good run around in the yard which helped us relax for our meditation session at the in-house Chapel. Karen asked us to reflect on how we can shine our lights for Jesus and how bright our light will glow when we do things in His Name and also how dim our light can be when we are not honouring Jesus.
We concluded our day with a prayer service, created and performed by our entire class. Miss McGivern and Miss Gráinne were invited to watch our play and listen to our prayers of faith and hope. We think that we made an impression on our audience as the applause was long and loud!
