Year 7 Blub Planting - Blooming Marvellous!
On Monday 11th January, we are happy to be in school because it begins our fun-filled week for Year 7 Mc Clelland and Toal.
Mrs Kinney, Ishika’s Mum came to St Bride’s to help us plant some bulbs so by spring our school would be in bloom.
Firstly we protected our hands with doctors gloves and organised ourselves into groups. Next, we marked out exactly where we would plant our bulbs. It was cold and the ground was hard although we kept ourselves warm by trying our best to dig deep. Finally, we had to bury and protect our bulbs in the soil making sure that the roots were placed in first.
In the grounds of the Ashleigh building Mrs Kinney came up with a great idea that we should create a Saint Brigid’s cross in the centre and because Saint Brigid brings the spring, our flowers should bloom in time for her feast day!
On the Derryvolgie side of the school, we planted our bulbs in the brick flower beds at the entrance and so, when spring arrives, our flowers will bloom and make visitors to St Brides PS smile.
Today has been a brilliant day. We are all looking forward to the rest of the week’s entertaining activities.
