Year 6 McMahon 'Switch Off Fortnight' Assembly
In P.6 McMahon we used our assembly to promote ‘Switch Off Fortnight’ which will be happening from the 14th – 27th November. To begin with Setanta and Niamh welcomed everyone. Next Archie introduced ‘Sophia’s family’ (Sophia, Adam and Cliodhna). They acted out a scene showing tips on how to save electricity in our homes. Enya and Emily were next up and they presented a powepoint presentation on things we can do to save electricity during ‘Switch Off Fortnight’. Our class ‘Rappers’ made a great impression with their version of ‘My Life and Yours’ environmental rap. Isaac explained to the class how it is important that we ‘TAKE CARE’ of the world that God created for us and Daire, Erin and Patrick H told us how if we don’t look after our planet then animals would lose their homes, there would be global flooding and extreme weather. To finish of Conor, Ira, Anna, Freyja, Grace, Mehedi and Lara shared information about how Climate Change is having a negative impact on the Great Barrier Reef, Artic Hare, Artic Fox, Polar Bears, Monkeys and Penguins. We finished our assembly with a hymn called ‘Within God’s Creation’ and thanked god for everything he has created for us. We really enjoyed this assembly and we hope the audience, including our parents, who came along to watch, learned a lot about ‘Switch Of Fortnight’.
