Year 6 McAuley Ulster Museum Viking Visit
On Tuesday the fourth of October P6 McAuley’s class walked to the Ulster Museum to learn about The Vikings. First we put our coats in a bucket and went into a room which had an enormous whiteboard. After we had all sit down on a comfortable cotton mat a woman turned the whiteboard on and showed us what a farm in the Viking age would look like. Did you know that the brighter the clothes you wore, the richer and powerful you were? Also, did you know monks flatted pieces of gold into thin strips which they glued to their books to make the writing stand out? Not long afterwards she showed us replicas of Viking weapons and clothes. We tried on Viking clothes and held the weapons. It was really fun. Finally we went home. It was a great trip and we learnt lots.
