Year 6 McAuley Magic Square Challenge
Mr McAuley’s class have been using a new and exciting numeracy resource that enable all children to work together using real cubes to not only solve number, algebra, data and shape / space problems but also to develop ideas and create tasks and questions of their own.
We completed two tasks as a group as there were two sets of cubes. There was a green, purple and red team for each set. We completed the Magic square challenge in which we had to figure out what number was the magic number and try and arrange the other blocks to all total to the magic number. We added all the numbers together and then divided the answer by the amount of numbers on the row on the bottom the answer was 15. We had to put in the middle number first, which was five. Then we had to fill in the numbers around it. It was challenging but fun
