Year 5 McAuley Sound Experiments
Today Year 5 McAuley had a lot of fun in class experimenting with sound. The class were divided into different activity groups. Some pupils were investigating the effect of striking a 'tuning fork' and placing it in a bowl of water. Their desks were very wet! Ronan's group had placed some rice on a drum and were observing what happened when they struck the drum. Other groups were recording the sounds made when glasses filled with different volumes of water were struck. They observed that the 'pitch' had changed. There was a lot of noise in the class however the children made excellent observations and recorded their findings. Well done!
