Today Miss McDermott’s class walked to the Ulster Museum. They were learning about Stuffee and how to be healthy. Stuffee was made just like the children; he had eyes, ears, nose, mouth and heart. The only thing that was different about Stuffee was that he had a zip to get inside his tummy. Stuffee liked to eat fruit and vegetables. He drank milk and water and once a week he had a delicious piece of cake. Stuffee knew it was important to brush his teeth after sweet food especially.
When his zip was opened we saw Stuffee’s heart and lungs and we saw where all the food goes into his mouth then down his oesophagus or food tube. It then goes to the small intestine and acid works on the food where it is broken down and travels through our blood. Finally all the waste products are in the large intestine and pass out of our bodies as waste matter. It was a really interesting day and we learnt some very interesting facts and new scientific words. When we came back to class we labelled a big Stuffee diagram.
