St. Bride's Pupils Eclipsed by the Moon!
The pupils of St. Bride's enjoyed moving lessons outdoor today to take part in viewing the partial solar eclipse. Pin hole cameras were used to see the moon moving in front of the sun. The pupils remarked on how wonderful it all was.
Miss Rogers’ class enjoyed the opportunity to become astrophysicists for the morning! Pupils created their own shadow catchers from two pieces of paper together as a class before going outside to try and catch a rare glimpse of the moon coming in between the sun and the earth to cast a shadow over their apparatus which they had constructed.
Miss Rogers’ class were successful in catching the sun’s rays through one piece of paper which reflected onto the other.
However, true to Irish weather, the clouds came, and the pupils’ view of the eclipse was obstructed!
The pupils quickly came inside to witness the solar eclipse via a live link up on the internet on the interactive whiteboard.
Oh well, there’s always next time! (In a few decades!)
Have a look at some of our pictures.
