Polyhedron Investigation
P7K have been working hard on their Maths Investigations. Our most recent one , was the Polyhedron Investigation.
This involved us using clixi to produce nets for 3D shapes and then exploring how these nets can be manipulated to create 3D shapes.
In exploring this, we realised there is a pattern between the number of edges, sides and vertices. This resulted in us discovering a formula which we now know to be, “Euler’s Formula”. As a bit of fun, we even got to learn a song that reinforces this formula and helps us to remember the names of the more difficult polyhedra such as the dodecahedron and the tetrahedron!
