P1 Merron - Syllables
We have been talking lots about syllables in words. We talk about the syllables in the days of the week every morning at welcome time. This week during literacy task time we have been counting the number of syllables in words. We had to say the word out loud and count the syllables using our body parts, one (we touch our head), two (we touch our shoulders), three (we touch our hips) and four (we touch our knees).
For example -peg- has only one syllable so we just touch our head, -ca-ter-pill-ar- has four syllables so we touch our head, shoulders, hips and knees.
You could try counting how many syllables are in your name?
