P1 Merron - subtraction sums
We have been working hard at our subtraction sums this week. Mrs Merron was seriously impressed with the independent work!
We used cubes to help us with our subtraction sums. We talked about subtraction meaning less and having to take away. 'take away' is the word we use mostly when subtracting.
As an extension some people wrote subtraction sums on their white boards using '-' and '=' signs. They still used cubes to count how many to start with and how many to take away.
Mrs Merron reminded the boys and girls to use their number lines when writing numbers as some people are still parking them round the wrong way, people are very good at correcting their numbers once they spot the mistake. You could practise your number formation at home too.
