P1 Merron - Number line
Mrs Merron has been introducing number lines this week and how they can be used to do our adding/addition sums.
She drew a number line on the Nursery playground ground using chalk. We have to move up the number line when we are adding. She got people to be the jumping frog along the number line. The key to using the number line correctly is to only count when you jump (some people count the number they are on at the start). E.g. 2+4=. You have to start on the number 2 then do two jumps to get to the answer.
There is a useful computer game that illustrates this http://www.eduplace.com/cgi-bin/schtemplate.cgi?template=/kids/mw/manip/mn_popup.thtml&filename=nmbl_prim&title=Number%20Line&grade=1
