Girls' Gaelic Semi- Final

24th Mar 2016

Girls Gaelic

Yesterday the girls played in the semi-finals of the A league. We had worked very hard to get to this stage and we were determined to play well.

Cara Bradley, Rachel, Niamh O, and Sophie were in the forward line, Eileen and Caoimhe were midfield, Laura, Niamh Turkington and Caitlin were defence and I was the goalkeeper. We were playing against Christ the Redeemer at Whiterock Leisure Centre. To warm up we did passing and running drills on the pitch until the other team arrived. The match started well and by the end of the first half we were winning 2-4 to 3-0. It was a very tough team and we were tired though very happy. The second half didn’t start as well, with them getting in a few good goals. Cara Bradley was a demon with Eileen and Laura getting it up the pitch faster the other team could manage. Though we were winning the other team starting playing with our defence, taking them up the field then scoring long range goals. Our team couldn’t keep up with the fast play and we ended the match with us losing by 2 points. The whole team was really disappointed especially Eileen, Caoimhe and I. It was a sad ending to a great season but we played our hearts out in a thrilling match and next year St Brides will be victorious!

Thanks to Mrs Campbell and Miss O'Leary for training us all year. Thanks to Frank whose help is invaluable. Thanks to Mr Murray for driving the minibus to and from the matches and thanks to Miss Joyce for the milka chocolate!
