Cocoa Detectives
On May 3rd, our class was invited down to Tesco to learn about cocoa production. To start the trip off we were told about where cocoa came from and how it was made into chocolate. We learnt about cocoa plants and farmers. We found out what raw cocoa powder tasted like but let’s just say we all preferred normal chocolate a lot more! We were lucky enough to try lots of chocolate, including milk, dark and white chocolate. Milk and white chocolate were favourites because they contained more sugar than other types of chocolate which are far more expensive.
After that we were taken out to the shopping area of Tesco because we were given a challenge. We had to find unexpected products that contained cocoa. Some were more obvious than others. Did you know that some face masks, curry mixes and candles can sometimes contain cocoa? We were all extremely amazed at this.
We think that we should be cautious about how much sugar, cocoa and fat we consume. You would be amazed at how unhealthy some foods really are .Our class really enjoyed the school trip to Tesco and we have learnt so much.
